Experience Mr. Shirley joined the staff of AvAirPros Services, Inc. in 2008 as a duty manager for the Midway Airlines’ Terminal Consortium (MATCO). He brings with him over 15 years of maintenance, project management, and customer service experience from both government and private sectors. Mr. Shirley is currently responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Inline Explosive Detection System, Passenger Loading Bridges, potable water equipment, ground power equipment, trituator equipment, Flight Information Displays, electric tug chargers, Pre-Conditioned Air equipment, Baggage Handling System, passenger wheelchair services, city gate management, in addition to other miscellaneous equipment and services.
Prior to managing the MATCO operation at Midway, Mr. Shirley supervised a maintenance crew contracted to operate and maintain the consolidated equipment and systems for all international carriers serving Chicago O’Hare’s International Terminal 5. He routinely coordinated projects of varying scope with airlines and ground crews to maintain optimum terminal efficiency. During his tenure at Terminal 5, Mr. Shirley was intimately involved in the last two upgrades to the Terminal’s Baggage Handling System.
Prior to working in the private sector, Mr. Shirley served in the United States Navy where he supervised the Electra-Technician’s shop, which was responsible for most crew comforts onboard the USS George Washington (CVN-73). He later took charge of a specialty division comprised of different naval rates, which allowed for more efficient problem diagnosis, and decreased equipment down time. Mr. Shirley received medals for National Defense and Good Conduct. He is a veteran of Operation Desert Shield. Following his honorable discharge in 1996, he began working in the maintenance industry where he accumulated an extensive working knowledge of many of the skilled trades including electrical, hydraulics, welding, pneumatics, and systems automation.
