Mr. Arvelo joined AvAirPros Services in March of 2007.As Manager On Duty for Terminal One Management at JFK International Airport, Mr. Arvelo is responsible for the overall day-to-day monitoring of passenger and flight activity. This includes managing the coordination of gates and ramp control. He also acts as liaison between the air carriers and the various service companies who are under contract with Terminal One to perform those services. The duties of the Manager On Duty also include maintaining a rapport with the Federal and local law enforcement agencies, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Prior to joining AvAirPros, Mr. Arvelo was a member of the Air France team at Terminal One. His experience was extensive in both the Passenger Service and Flight Operations departments. As a member of the Passenger Service Department, Mr. Arvelo was a lead agent overseeing multiple daily arrivals and departures. His responsibilities included overseeing check-in and ensuring that all passengers requiring special assistance were accommodated. As an arrival lead, Mr. Arvelo ensured that all passengers were assisted through the immigration and customs process. As a traffic agent, Mr. Arvelo was responsible for ensuring that all passenger service related documents were completed and filed appropriately. This position also required him to coordinate meal orders and ensure that the passenger service department was fulfilling its day-to-day obligations. Mr. Arvelo later joined the Flight Operations Department where he trained in multiple functions essential to the daily operation of the entire JFK station. While a member of the Flight Operations Department, he acquired a license to handle the load planning and weight and balance of long haul passenger flights. Mr. Arvelo was a member of Air France CLD project, Air France’s first centralized load planning and weight and balance department in charge of the Americas. This was the first department of its type for Air France outside its headquarters in Paris, France. From the CLD at JFK, Mr. Arvelo was one of the team members responsible for the load planning and weight and balance of almost every Air France passenger flight in the United States. Additionally as a Flight Operations Agent, Mr. Arvelo was responsible for the coordination of multiple daily arrivals and departures. His responsibilities included ensuring that all handling companies complied with Air France regulations and completed their contractual obligations within strict time limits. Mr. Arvelo also ensured that all local and federal guidelines were being respected during the operation. Additional responsibilities included ramp safety audits and reporting anomalies directly to the Flight Operations Manager and the Quality Manager of the JFK station. As a crew scheduling agent, Mr. Arvelo served as a liaison for the Air France flight crews. He handled all matters related to the rotations, transportation and accommodations of the in-flight crews. This function also required that Mr. Arvelo serve as a liaison between the flight crews and governments agencies, such as U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Mr. Arvelo served as an Operations Control Agent where he coordinated the entire day-to-day operation of the JFK station including the coordination of cargo flights. As an Operations Control Agent, he monitored air traffic control, kept track of aircraft movements, monitored weather for the in-flight crews, organized flight plans, and plotted navigation routes on weather and navigation charts. Mr. Arvelo has also been active in his community; for many years, he coached little league basketball teams and served as a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). While at Long Island University Mr. Arvelo was involved in the Model United Nations Program, the largest collegiate competition in the world. As a graduate student, he trained a team of LIU students for the international competition, and they won international recognition for their performance. Mr. Arvelo has a Bachelor’s Degree with Honors in Political Science from Long Island University, and is a former New York State Licensed Emergency Medical Technician.
