Director

Experience

Mr. Shaw, with eleven years of experience in the airline industry, is currently based in Anchorage providing technical services for the Alaska International Airport System for terminal renovation projects in Anchorage and Fairbanks valued at $207 million and $96 million respectively.

Mr. Shaw’s role as Airline Technical Representative (ATR) involves the representation of over twelve Signatory and non-Signatory airlines; coordinating each airline’s requirements individually and collectively providing a single point of contact for the Project Teams. This role has included terminal planning assistance, relocation and phasing plans, and cost benefit analysis. Both projects are within active terminal areas which require close coordination with airline tenants to minimize impact on airline operations during relocations and construction activities. In addition, Mr. Shaw has provided overall project construction document, schedule, and budget reviews. He has provided creative and cost-effective solutions to challenging problems while maintaining overall airline and airport operations.

Prior to joining AvAirPros, Mr. Shaw’s assignments included serving as Manager of Facilities for AirTran Airways and as a project manager for Northwest Airlines.

At AirTran, he oversaw facility projects for the second-largest low cost carrier; directing the development, coordination, and execution of multiple, simultaneous facility projects for forty-five stations. Significant projects included the relocation of operations at Boston, Dallas Ft. Worth, Orlando, Denver and Ft. Lauderdale airports. As part of his responsibilities, Mr. Shaw managed the efforts of various architects/engineers and contractors, while also coordinating with airport authorities to ensure all local standards and tenant obligations were met. In addition to his project-related work, he participated on airline/airport committees and negotiated leases with airport authorities. Mr. Shaw was also responsible for the development of corporate ramp marking standards.

Prior to joining AirTran, Mr. Shaw held several positions including Project Manager and Design Manager for Northwest Airlines on the $1.2 billion WorldGateway Terminal Project at Detroit Metro International Airport. His responsibilities on the program included the management of several construction projects and the development of various design and lease documents associated with the program.

Mr. Shaw’s experience managing both large and small airport construction projects, along with his communication and coordination skills make him a valued member of any airport improvement program.
