Ramana Murthy
Senior Manager

Experience

Ramana Murthy serves as the Financial Controls Coordinator for the $519 million Love Field Modernization Program (LFMP). He is responsible for the day to day tracking of funding requirements for individual projects within the LFMP. His duties include long term planning, cash flow and statistical analysis, financial modeling, and forecasting.

Prior to joining AvAirPros, Mr. Murthy served as head reviewer in the Tampa office of the public finance firm, BondLogistix. Mr. Murthy worked extensively with governmental entities, post issuance, to ensure compliance with arbitrage rebate and yield restriction rules and regulations. With clients located coast to coast, including several large cities and states, Mr. Murthy helped monitor bond proceeds, guiding issuers to maximize their interest earnings, while seeking to minimize their tax liability. As the main point of contact between the calculation team and municipalities, Mr. Murthy was engaged on a number of complex financial transactions and debt structures. This included work on fixed and variable rate bonds, both refunding and new money pieces, pooled financings, commercial paper, reserve fund allocations, transferred proceeds, commingled funds, swaps, guaranteed investment contracts, escrow restructuring and cash defeasances. In addition, in cases where interest rates have declined, Mr. Murthy assisted clients in recouping large prior rebate payments, by working directly with the internal revenue service and tax attorney’s to request refunds.

Mr. Murthy also worked at First Southwest Company, where he performed arbitrage rebate and yield restriction calculations for clients primarily located in Texas. As a team leader, Mr. Murthy was instrumental in delivering clients accurate and timely reports, in advance of state and local governmental audits. Through spreadsheet and data analyses, based on bond yield and investment rate trends, Mr. Murthy also provided forecasts for clients concerned with potential future arbitrage liability. Mr. Murthy hosted seminars throughout the southwest United States educating issuers on how to comply with tax regulations, understanding the intent of the tax code, the mathematics behind the calculation and how to exempt certain funds from the rebate calculation.

Ramana holds an MBA in Economics from University of Texas at Arlington and a BBA in Finance from the same university. He has taken and passed the Series 7, Series 63 and Series 24 Security licensing exams.
