Experience

Mr. Spielman joined AvAirPros after twenty-eight years in the Airline industry with Northwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, and most recently with AirTran Airways as Manager of Properties, Facilities, and Contracts. He is based in Orlando, Florida, but works in various cities throughout North America.
  
Since joining AvAirPros, Mr. Spielman has coordinated the second phase of the new Southwest Airline’s ‘Gate of the Future’ project in thirty-eight cities across the United States. This broad, multi-phased project has proven very successful since its inception in late 2007. In addition, he has managed the Terminal Activation Group, (TAG), for the new $463 million North Terminal in Detroit. In this role, Mr. Spielman worked with all levels of Airport Authority, Airline Management, and various government and private entities to ensure an on time opening of the new facility.

Prior to joining the staff of AvAirPros, Mr. Spielman served as the Properties and Facilities Project Manager for AirTran Airways and was responsible for the airline’s expansion into fourteen new cities. New city expansion duties included: indentifying proper facilities; negotiating with the airport, contractors and vendors; coordinating between various airline departments; setting timelines; and overseeing the projects.

Mr. Spielman was also involved in the planning phases of Airside 2 at Orlando, the new Midfield Terminal at Southwest Florida International Airport, as well as the new Hubert H. Humphrey Terminal in Minneapolis. He also coordinated major facility projects in a number of additional cities including terminal relocations, terminal build-outs and renovations. In addition, Mr. Spielman directed and oversaw multiple, simultaneous, facility projects in many other airports around the AirTran and Sun Country route systems.
  
Other assignments included participating in AAAC meetings, lease negotiations, drafting and negotiating contracts, and serving as a member of the MATCO Board of Directors at Chicago’s Midway Airport.

Mr. Spielman’s airline management background also includes various leadership positions including Director of Stations, Regional Manager Ground Services, Manager of Crew Scheduling, Station Manager, Ramp Manager, Anti-Drug Program Manager, and Cargo Traffic Control Manager for the Atlantic Region.
