Mr. Swanson’s aviation experience is in terminal area planning, design and developing phased implementation programs to accommodate airport growth. Mr. Swanson brings to AvAirPros a unique perspective based on the experience of working in two major carriers’ properties and facilities departments and as an independent consultant.
In working with the airlines, Mr. Swanson’s responsibilities included: planning, development and project administration of the airlines’ operations facilities; long range facility planning; architectural design; and contract administration. Mr. Swanson’s experience as an architectural/planning consultant to both airline and airport clients responded to the wide range of issues confronting the industry, coordinating both the airports’ and airlines’ view points.
This unique perspective is valuable in understanding the complexities associated with developing a mutually beneficial business relationship between airlines and airports that strives to achieve the successful implementation of an Airport Development Program.
At Los Angeles International Airport, Mr. Swanson represents the International Airlines for the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) Refurbishment Program. His coordination efforts are required to ensure that the operations of over 30 international airlines are maintained while the $750 million program to upgrade this aging facility is implemented.
At San Jose International Airport, Mr. Swanson has been retained to represent the airlines in the development of the airport’s proposed $1.5 billion Master Plan program. He helped facilitate discussions to achieve consensus between the airport and the airlines on the very contentious capital development program.
Mr. Swanson is assisting the Airline Liaison Office (ALO) at Oakland International Airport, in developing, coordinating, and facilitating all aspects of the airlines’ technical and financial input in the Airport Development Program.
At San Francisco International Airport, Mr. Swanson has assisted the ALO in a variety of tasks related to facilitating airline involvement in the implementation of the Near Term Master Plan Program.
At Southwest Florida International Airport, Ft. Myers, Florida, Mr. Swanson developed their 2010 Implementation Plan. The plan included maximizing the utilization of their existing terminal, defining a new midfield terminal concept and scheduling the implementation of a new parallel runway.
