AvAirPros recently completed Concessions Master Planning in conjunction with the renovation and expansion of the Tom Bradley International Terminal at Los Angeles International Airport. AvAirPros teamed with the Airport?s architects, designers and the LAX Engineering Department to establish a new and expanded program in renovated spaces.

In addition to programming and planning new concession space, AvAirPros reviewed passenger flows in an effort to optimize locations in relation to the passenger flow. To establish programmatic requirements, AvAirPros reviewed historical and projected passenger data. From the data, programmatic requirements were established. The program also included review and recommendations for delivery, storage and in-terminal distribution systems concessionaires will rely upon once the renovated building opens for passenger use.

AvAirPros also developed phasing strategies for passenger seating and interim signage systems so impacts of the renovation will not impede concessionaires business and overall service to passengers. To this end, AvAirPros designed a new and expanded seating configuration in the central terminal foodcourt, increasing the capacity of the facility and providing adequate seating for the increased volume of passengers anticipated for the facility following renovation.

AvAirPros provided Airport Staff with an evaluation of concourse concessions for the purposes of determining the optimum (concourse) program size. AvAirPros made a series of recommendations to Airport Staff that included increasing the amount of concession space in the South concourse, maintaining the status quo in the North concourse and developing a new concession wayfinding signage system in both concourses.
