AvAirPros was retained by the airlines serving Kansas City International Airport (MCI) from April to September 1999 to assist them and the Kansas City Aviation Department (KCAD) in defining the scope of its $175M Terminal Renovation Program.AvAirPros, in its Airline Liaison Services role, served as the focal point for airline input and coordination with KCAD regarding facilities development. This assignment required the establishment of programmatic requirements, evaluation of existing design alternatives, evaluation of simulation reports, development of alternative terminal concepts for refinement by KCAD designers, negotiation amongst the airlines, independent review of proposed airline/airport interim modifications, review of proposed phasing alternatives, and coordination of detailed design meetings. With the assistance of AvAirPros, a terminal renovation program, which had been stagnant from 1997 to 1999, was revitalized. The ultimate result of this effort will provide for the implementation of current airline customer service improvements, future expansion opportunities for the airport and airlines, an improved concessions program, and replacement of outdated building infrastructure and finishes.
