The Miami Airport Affairs Committee (MAAC) through the Miami-Dade County Aviation Department (MDAD) retained AvAirPros as the MAAC Consultant in January 1995 to represent the collective interests of the airlines at Miami International Airport (MIA). The MAAC Consultant office focuses on business, financial, and technical issues that directly affect airline policy, capital expenditures, operating costs and airline rates and charges. Working together, the Airport, the Airlines and the MAAC Consultant are striving to achieve the common goal of completing a challenging ten-year $5.4B Capital Improvement Program (CIP) on time and within budget.AvAirPros, as the MAAC Consultant, has a working knowledge of leases and agreements between MDAD, the airlines and other airport tenants and coordinates the preparation of the MAAC meeting agendas with MDAD staff. AvAirPros also attends the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) meetings to represent airline positions in support of the MDAD staff on airport issues. AvAirPros reviews and analyzes MDAD?s annual operating budget and its annual proposed airline fees and charges calculations and supporting documentation. AvAirPros also established, maintains, and supports the MAAC Airline Technical Committee with a working knowledge of the major programs that comprise the overall CIP. AvAirPros provides policy, financial and technical expertise on major airport matters, coordinates with other airline and MDAD Committees, and provides representation on various selection, negotiating, operating, review, and design task groups from an airline perspective. AvAirPros also actively participates in presentations and discussions with MDAD and its consultants on major CIP projects, including the review of phasing and construction impacts on airline operations. As a result of AvAirPros activities, the airlines are insured that the annual calculations of landing fees and terminal rentals are accurate, consistent, and compliant with applicable contracts and law. The airlines are advised of proposed changes in MDAD business practices and the effect these proposed changes may have on the airlines. The airlines are informed of phasing and construction activity that may impact airline operations and are advised of the current schedule and cost of the CIP. The MAAC Consultant office insures that there is coordination between the airlines and other MDAD committees and working groups. As a result of AvAirPros involvement, the airlines are kept abreast of current issues, their views and opinions are articulated to the Airport, and all airlines at Miami are treated equitably and fairly.
