G Concourse Renovation - American Airlines

AvAirPros Services was retained by Americana Airlines as the Program Manager for the $80 million renovation of the existing G Concourse at O'Hare International Airport. AvAirPros Services managed all aspects of renovation program including financial management, design coordination, bidding, construction and project closeout. AvAirPros Services further managed and coordinated the architectural and engineering design services and functioned as the liaison between various functional groups including the City of Chicago, American Airlines, American Eagle, Sabre, and multiple concessionaires. AvAirPros Services assisted closely with American Airlines in the negotiation of the cost reimbursement agreement for the program and in the development of the overall program budget.

AvAirPros Services developed the overall program budget and schedule based on defined airline requirements for passenger comfort and gate availability. A Request For Proposal for was developed and issued to procure the services of a Managing General Contractor with a Guaranteed Maximum Price with a Fee type of contract. AvAirPros Services reviewed all bids, conducted proposal reviews, and wrote the contract for the Managing General Contractor services. AvAirPros Services closely coordinated development of a detailed phasing plan with the Managing General Contractor and American Airlines/American Eagle. The detailed phasing plan became the basis of the schedule used in bidding the overall project to the construction trades.

AvAirPros Services coordinated with the City of Chicago in the development of a comprehensive Minority and Women Business Enterprise program which included local outreach communication and a project wide outreach event. Substantial goal were developed, implemented and monitored for compliance on a monthly basis. Where necessary, modifications in the trade labor pool and subcontracting philosophy were made to maximize success of the Minority and Women Business Enterprise program.

During the construction period, AvAirPros Services has closely coordinated the efforts of the Managing General Contractor and the trade subcontractors. Additionally, AvAirPros Services has closely coordinated the needs of the construction team with the operational requirements of the airlines in order to maximize airline operations. AvAirPros Services has successfully rephased the overall project schedule such that no gates have been closed throughout the construction period and full passenger services have been maintained for American Airlines and American Eagle. This rephasing has resulted approximately $100 Million of additional revenue being earned by American Eagle during the construction period. Additionally, AvAirPros Services has managed the program to complete nearly eight months ahead of schedule and prior to the holiday travel period. The overall program is substantially complete, ahead of schedule and $15 Million under the approved budget. AvAirPros Services is currently undertaking additional scope of work with American Airlines including management of the development of the Admirals Club, renovation of the Rotunda Building and reconstruction of the Link Bridge to Terminal 3.
