North Terminal Analysis Study

AvAirPros was engaged by the Orlando International Airport Airline Airport Affairs Committee (AAAC) in July 2000 to assist the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) in its review of the North Terminal and Roadway capacities. The objectives of the capacity analysis were: 1) review various elements of the North Terminal and determine for each element, the current and potential peak hour enplaning/deplaning capacity; 2) identify physical and/or operational improvements that would enhance the peak hour capacity; and 3) review GOAA?s cost estimates associated with the implementation of capacity enhancements for the North Terminal.

AvAirPros actively participated with GOAA staff and consultants in a working group environment to complete an analysis of the North Terminal and associated roadway system. The functional elements reviewed were the:

· Landside Terminal Vertical Circulation
· Terminal Roads and Ramps
· Entering and Exiting Weaves
· Landside Terminal Curbs
· Garage Public Parking
· Ticketing Lobby
· Baggage Claim
· Baggage Make-up
· FIS Capacity
· Security Check Point

The concluding analyses resulted in confirmation of airline assessments that the existing North Terminal could support additional enplanements than originally envisioned. In addition, selected capacity enhancements could be undertaken to further expand existing terminal capacity. These conclusions served to assist the airlines in their lease negotiations with GOAA to delay implementation of the South Terminal. The delay in the South Terminal resulted in a potential savings of approximately $77M in rental and landing fee reductions to the airlines.
